Cats have gentle, sweet personalities. If they accidentally make a mistake, their owners should never hit them. Otherwise, the cat's little temper will explode, and it might think, "If I don't show my power, you'll really think I'm a pushover!" Actually, it's not that serious. However, hitting a cat and putting it under pressure is really bad! 
Cats and dogs, as two different species, have very different psychology and habits. Dogs' dependence on humans has shaped their obedient nature; loyalty and trust are deeply ingrained in their genes. Cats, on the other hand, have always viewed humans as companions. In a cat's mind, it is at least equal to humans, and some pampered cats even feel superior to humans. A joke vividly illustrates this psychological difference: A dog thinks: "This person is so good to me, giving me good food and drink, and a warm home; he must be God." A cat thinks: "This person is so good to me, giving me good food and drink, and a warm home; I must be God!"
It is precisely because of this psychology in cats that we must never punish them by hitting. As cat owners, we must first understand that what we call a "mistake" is only from a human perspective. For example, breaking an expensive teacup, wetting a newly bought mattress, or scratching a priceless painting—to them, these are just simple things like making a noise, urinating, or sharpening their claws. If you angrily rush over and beat them, the cat won't understand why, and it will instantly lose trust in you, thinking that you are dangerous. While you think that every slap imprints the words "repent and reform" on its bottom, what it might be thinking is: "Oh my god! Is this crazy?! Did you forget to take your medicine today?!" And what happens after the beating? A cat with a broad mind might forget about it after a while and make up with you after you try to appease it. A cat with a narrow mind might never trust you again. And besides that, it will be completely unaware of the "mistake" it has made and may repeat it next time.
Therefore, when training your cat, you should combine various stimuli and methods organically. You cannot be too harsh, nor can you let them run wild. You must use a combination of firmness and gentleness, and a balance between strictness and leniency. However, when training a particular action, you should not use too many methods, lest the cat become confused.
Cats are stubborn and have a strong sense of self-respect; they don't like to be controlled. Therefore, you should be gentle and treat them as if you were playing with them. Even if they do something wrong, don't scold or punish them excessively, otherwise the cat will develop an aversion to training, which will affect the entire training process.
