The correct way to trim a cat's nails
The correct way to trim a cat's nails: Hold the cat, grasp its paws to expose the nails, and trim the part outside the quick.
The owner holds the cat, letting it sit on their lap, and hugs the cat from behind to stabilize it. Then, holding the cat's paws and pressing down on the paw pads, the cat's nails, which are usually retracted, will be exposed. The owner can then trim the transparent part of the nail tip (2-3 millimeters) with nail clippers, being careful not to cut the quick.
Precautions
1. A cat's nail growth rate is related to its metabolism speed, and it should generally be trimmed every one to two weeks.
2. Get your cat used to having its nails trimmed from a young age. Once it becomes a habit, trimming will be much easier.
3. Try to choose a time when your cat is in a good mood. If your cat is very resistant, do not force it to trim its nails, otherwise it is easy to hurt each other.
4. After trimming your cat's nails, remember to give them some treats as a reward to create a conditioned reflex. They will be more cooperative when you trim their nails again in the future.
The purpose of trimming a cat's nails
1. Prevent cats from scratching furniture or walls while scratching, and avoid breaking nails that could damage the cat's paw pads.
2. It can prevent cats from hurting each other when they fight because their claws are too sharp.
3. Prevent the nails from being too sharp and embedding into the cat's paw pads, as this will cause the cat pain and discomfort and affect its mobility.
