The two eggs on a female cat's back are actually her ovaries, one of her reproductive organs. The ovaries are responsible for producing eggs, which can combine with the sperm of a male cat to eventually develop into kitten embryos.
When spaying a cat, the veterinarian usually removes the cat's ovaries and uterus. This prevents the cat from going into heat and from urinating inappropriately, saving the owner a lot of trouble.
