Cats can smell gardenias. Gardenias are not poisonous to cats and therefore will not affect their health. However, special care should be taken to prevent cats from accidentally ingesting gardenias, as the flowers contain some unknown components that may have adverse effects on cats.
If a cat accidentally ingests gardenia flowers and exhibits adverse reactions such as vomiting or diarrhea, it should be taken to a veterinary hospital for treatment immediately.
