Cats do indeed get hot. Their ideal temperature range is approximately 30 to 38 degrees Celsius. When the ambient temperature exceeds this range, cats may feel uncomfortable. In hot environments, cats may regulate their body temperature by drooling excessively, panting, licking their lips and tongues, avoiding sunlight, reducing activity, licking their fur to cool down, experiencing decreased appetite, elevated body temperature, restlessness, and anxiety.
If a cat's body temperature remains elevated, it may experience symptoms of heatstroke, such as rapid breathing, a rapid heartbeat, and a body temperature exceeding 40 degrees Celsius. Therefore, in hot weather, cat owners need to take measures to provide a cool environment for their cats, such as using air conditioning or fans, providing a shady resting area, and ensuring they have plenty of water, to help keep them comfortable and prevent heatstroke.
