Cats and dogs have limited color vision. Cats can distinguish blue, green, and some red, but red appears grayish to them. Dogs can recognize blue, yellow, and gray, but are not sensitive to red and green, often perceiving green as grayish-white, and red as black or brown.

This is because they have fewer cone cells in their retinas, making it impossible for them to distinguish a wide range of colors like humans. Nevertheless, cats and dogs excel in night vision and motion capture, possessing unique visual advantages.
