How pregnant women and pet cats get along
Many women give away their pet cats after becoming pregnant, mainly due to concerns about contracting toxoplasmosis. Cats are a major source of toxoplasmosis infection. This pathogen is not easily detected, and if a pregnant woman is infected, it can cause birth defects in the fetus, posing a significant threat to both the mother and the fetus.
However, pregnant women do not necessarily have to give their cats away. We believe that as long as they adopt the correct, scientific, and healthy ways of getting along, pregnant women and pet cats can coexist peacefully. 
During pregnancy, expectant mothers should avoid excessive close contact with cats and should not allow cats to sleep in the same bed as the pregnant woman. The cat's food bowls, toys, and bed should be frequently cleaned and disinfected. During pregnancy, minimize taking the cat outside to play to prevent healthy cats from contracting toxoplasmosis, which could threaten the health of the pregnant woman and fetus. Cats that do come out outdoors should be cleaned promptly to maintain their hygiene.
Pregnant women should avoid kissing cats indiscriminately and avoid direct contact with cat feces. If handling cat feces is necessary, gloves must be worn, and hands should be washed thoroughly afterward. During pregnancy, cats should also be vaccinated and treated for internal and external parasites to ensure their health and prevent them from carrying any germs or infectious diseases. Ensuring the cat's health also ensures the health of the fetus.
For women planning to become pregnant, it's advisable to have their cats checked beforehand to ensure they are free of toxoplasmosis and other infectious diseases. The woman herself should also undergo a comprehensive medical examination to confirm that both she and her cat are healthy before deciding to conceive.
