Why do cats eat cat litter?
1. It could be out of curiosity. Cats may eat small amounts of cat litter out of curiosity, but this mostly happens to kittens under 3 months old, and is less common in cats over 18 months old.
2. They might be attracted by the smell. Some manufacturers add fragrances to cat litter, and most cat litter is made primarily from plant-based ingredients such as tofu or soybean litter. These smells can make cats mistakenly believe that the litter is edible.
3. It could be anemia. Iron deficiency and hypokalemia in cats are symptoms that can cause them to eat cat litter.
4. It could be pica. This can be caused by micronutrient deficiencies, malnutrition, etc., leading to similar symptoms.
5. It could be other illnesses and health problems. Signs of kidney disease and leukemia.
6. It might be out of boredom. Because cats love to roll around and play in the litter box, a cat eating cat litter might just be a "new experience".
7. It could be due to hunger. The cat litter smells too much like food.
8. Nutritional deficiency: If a cat does not get enough nutrition from its food, it may eat random things. The minerals contained in cat litter (bentonite, mineral sand) may attract the cat and make it mistakenly believe that it can supplement its nutritional components. 
How to solve the problem of cats eating cat litter?
1. You can stop and train the cat to prevent it from developing the habit of eating cat litter from a young age.
2. A varied diet is recommended. You can feed your cat canned food, meat, and other different foods to achieve a balanced diet.
3. Go to the hospital for further examination and treatment, and strengthen nutritional supplementation and ensure sufficient sleep.
4. You can try changing to a different type of cat litter, such as a personalized brand.
5. Give your cat plenty of water to help flush out the litter from its intestines. In severe cases, you may need to give your cat a gastric or intestinal lavage.
6. Distract your cat. You can buy some toys to entertain your cat, so that its life isn't just about the litter box.
