Things cats absolutely cannot eat:
1. Sweet treats. Such as chocolate, beer, coffee, candy, and pastries. Sweet foods can cause obesity in cats, chocolate can cause shock or even death, xylitol can cause hypoglycemia, and caffeinated and alcoholic beverages are more likely to cause poisoning. Cat owners should not feed their cats indiscriminately just because they beg for food.
2. Onion and garlic-based foods. Foods such as onions, scallions, green onions, chives, and garlic contain components that can damage a cat's red blood cells, potentially causing anemia. This effect remains the same even after heating. Cat owners should be especially careful when preparing homemade cat food and avoid adding these foods. It is also not recommended to feed cats human food.
3. Crustaceans. Foods such as octopus, squid, crab, and shrimp are difficult to digest and may cause diarrhea in cats. Some cats have slightly better digestive systems, but that doesn't mean you can continue feeding them crustaceans and seafood. You should stop feeding them these foods.
4. Spicy or irritating foods. Foods like chili peppers, Sichuan peppercorns, and black pepper are very irritating to cats. Not only will their digestive system struggle to handle them, but they will also experience other physical discomfort. Overly salty food can also irritate cats; try to feed them a milder diet.
Things to note when feeding your cat:
1. Meat: Some meats are high in protein, so we should feed them more of these to our cats. It has been shown that cats need three times the amount of meat protein as dogs. Therefore, supplementing cats with high-protein meat is very important for their growth.
2. Fruits and vegetables: It is not recommended to feed cats fruits and vegetables, as this can have a serious impact on their health and growth. Some families feed their pets vegetables because the whole family is vegetarian, but this is a very wrong practice. You should know that it is better not to feed carnivorous animals vegetables at all. Please pay attention to this point.
3. Nutritious food: We know that cats love to eat meat, but as owners, we must not feed them only one type of food. This will have a very serious impact on the nutritional balance of the cat. We can feed them cat food and other similar foods. Remember, do not feed your cat only meat.
4. Avoid feeding your cat foods that make it sick, such as seafood, raw chicken, desserts, onions, bones, and grapes. We need to be extra careful with these foods. Some people might say cats eat bones, but I want to tell you that bones can harm a cat's digestive system, so we should try to avoid giving them to them.
5. Pay attention to food. As owners, we need to be mindful of what our cats eat. In addition to the raw fish and meat mentioned above, we should also be aware that milk, carrots, and high-fat foods may seem like edible to cats, but these foods could potentially harm their health. It's best to avoid feeding your cat large quantities of these foods unless absolutely necessary.
6. Frozen food: We should also not give frozen food to cats. Animals generally have similar diets. Eating too much frozen food will inevitably be bad for their stomach and intestines, and can also easily cause various degrees of harm to their bodies. As owners, we must prohibit frozen food.
