Why do cats scratch the ground after eating?
Cats dig at the ground after eating because they want to bury the leftover food. This is their natural instinct, and this behavior is most common in environments where multiple cats are kept together.
Cats will also dig at the ground when they need to defecate after eating, especially when they feel urgent and can't find the litter box. It's best to place the litter box nearby.
If a cat's food bowl and litter box are placed too close together, it may scratch the ground after smelling the litter box. This is a reflex behavior of the cat burying the scent. Simply remove the litter box.
