The average lifespan of a cat is 12-15 years, but this can vary considerably depending on the breed, lifestyle, and environment. Cats living in good conditions, receiving regular meals and nutritional supplements tend to live longer. Properly administering vaccinations, deworming, checkups, and cleaning/disinfection services reduces the chances of illness and significantly extends lifespan. Domesticated cats, with ample food and owner care, experience less stress and are less likely to suffer injuries from fights, resulting in longer lifespans compared to stray cats.
Ways to extend a cat's lifespan:
1. When raising a cat, you should take it for a check-up regularly. It is recommended to take the kitten for a check-up twice a year, the adult cat for a check-up once a year, and the senior cat for a check-up twice a year. The check-up items will be different at different stages of a cat's life.
2. Kittens over 6 weeks old can be dewormed regularly. External parasite treatment should be performed every 1-2 months, and internal parasite treatment should be performed every 3-4 months.
3. You can use a cat toy to tease your cat and reward it with treats. You can also buy some fun toys for your cat and increase its exercise at home.
4. Make sure your cat drinks plenty of water. The more water your cat drinks, the healthier it will be. Drinking more water reduces the burden on their kidneys, thus decreasing the likelihood of urinary tract stones and cystitis.
