Turkish Angora cats typically live to be 10-15 years old, but those over seven are prone to diabetes due to a lack of insulin, which affects the normal transport and utilization of blood sugar. Turkish Angora cats weighing over 7 kg are twice as likely to develop diabetes as those weighing less than 7 kg. Many diabetic cats find their blood sugar levels return to normal after dieting and weight loss. Maintaining a healthy weight is a good way to extend the lifespan of Turkish Angora cats.
Methods to extend the lifespan of Turkish Angora cats:
1. Turkish Angora cats can eat cat food. The cat food should be rich in nutrients. Give them some meat appropriately. Beef is the most nutritious, but it should be cooked, otherwise there will be too many parasites. This is beneficial to their growth.
2. Do not feed Angora cats human food for a long time, as this will cause malnutrition and affect their health.
3. Angora cats also have the habit of self-cleaning with their tongues. Angora cats have long fur that can accumulate in their stomachs. It is necessary to feed them hairball paste regularly to help them clean up indigestible hairballs in their intestines and reduce the possibility of gastrointestinal discomfort.
4. Owners should exercise with their Angora cats regularly and interact with them. Leaving an Angora cat alone at home for extended periods is not good for its physical or mental health.
