What does it mean when a cat pounces on its owner's feet?
When a cat pounces on its owner's feet, it's because it sees the owner's feet as an imaginary enemy, envisioning itself as a hunter and engaging in a hunting game. Cats have a natural hunting instinct, and although domesticated cats no longer need to hunt for food themselves, this instinct has been passed down.
However, when cats pounce on their owners, they usually retract their claws to avoid scratching them, so they only pounce and do not bite.
What to do if your cat jumps on your feet?
If the owner doesn't like the cat doing this, they can yell loudly when the cat pounces. The cat will think it hurts and will gradually stop doing it. Alternatively, after the cat pounces on their leg, the owner can walk away indifferently and completely ignore the cat. This will make the cat lose interest.
