Do cats also have left- or right-handed characteristics?
Humans are left- or right-handed, and so are animals. Humans are actually advanced animals, having evolved from different species. So, what humans have, animals may also have. Left- or right-handedness is a good example. Neither humans nor animals are born left- or right-handed; it is formed later due to environmental and lifestyle needs.
Scientists previously pointed out that because the human brain is divided into left and right hemispheres, the left hemisphere is more developed and controls the right side of the body, which is why we are right-handed. For a long time, it was believed that this "division of labor between the left and right hemispheres" was unique to humans, and from an evolutionary perspective, the specialization of brain functions only began after the emergence of humans. However, scientists have now discovered that this phenomenon is actually quite common in vertebrates, dating back to the centuries when vertebrates first appeared. 
Zoologists have identified three methods for determining whether an animal is left-handed or right-handed. The first is by observing its walking pattern. Before the animal begins to walk, observe which foot it steps with first. After repeated observations, you will find that the foot that steps first is usually consistent.
Second, try "shaking hands" with the animal. This method is especially effective with dogs, as they usually extend their dominant hand, but it may take a few tries to get it to work.
Third, use food to lure them. Place the things the animals like in an easily accessible place, and they will naturally reach for them. You will then find that they are reaching for them with their dominant hand.
In fact, animals are not born left-handed or right-handed. Rather, environmental influences cause them to develop a preference for either hand, with roughly equal numbers of animals using either. Polar bears, for example, are almost entirely left-handed. Furthermore, fish and birds also exhibit left- or right-handedness. For instance, when encountering a predator, fish that are right-eyed will flee to the right, while those that are left-eyed will flee to the left. Birds, like fish, will also observe their surroundings; right-eyed birds will look to the right first, then to the left.
Therefore, in this vast world, there are many things waiting to be discovered. Although humans are the most advanced animals on Earth, sometimes we are not even as advanced as animals. Only through scientific research can we discover these mysteries.
