There are special cat shampoos for bathing cats; you can't use human shampoo. Cat shampoos contain cleaning, conditioning, and disinfecting ingredients that cats need for their fur.
It is recommended that two people help bathe a cat. The process should be quick, and it is best for one person to hold the cat down to prevent it from struggling while the other person bathes it.

After bathing your cat, immediately pat it dry with a towel. Then, stand a short distance away and use a hairdryer on a warm setting to dry its fur. Avoid blowing the hairdryer directly into its face, as this will startle it. It's most important to dry the fur on its back and belly. Leave its paws behind its back, as they can dry themselves. If your cat is still shivering from the cold, turn on a heater if you have one. If it's broad daylight, you can simply dry it with a towel and let it sunbathe.
After drying your cat's fur, don't let it be exposed to cold air immediately, as this can easily cause it to catch a cold. Let it calm down first, and at the same time, comfort the cat so it won't be startled.
