What procedures are needed for a cat to travel by train?

1. After a cat has received the feline triple vaccine and rabies vaccine, it will receive an immunization certificate. This certificate can be obtained for free, and most large, reputable veterinary hospitals (not pet shops or private clinics) should be qualified to issue this certificate.
2. Go to the local animal quarantine station 7 days in advance to obtain a stamped "Pet Export Quarantine Certificate". Note that the cat must be brought to the station for a physical examination. Also, this certificate is only valid for 7 days.
3. Arrive at the train station a little early, enter the baggage check-in area, show all your documents, weigh your luggage, and check it in;
4. Wait outside the luggage compartment with your cat to ensure it is properly placed after the luggage is packed.
5. Return to the carriage to rest. According to regulations, you can visit the cat once every three hours to feed it, give it water, and let it relieve itself.
6. When you get off the bus, the cat will be returned just like checked luggage.

1. Weigh your pet to confirm that the weight of cats, dogs, and other pets does not exceed 20 kilograms. If the weight exceeds this limit, the application cannot be processed.
2. Call China Railway 12306 or China Railway Express 95572 customer service hotline to confirm that baggage transportation services have been launched between the origin and destination cities (both baggage offices at both ends need to be open for business).
3. Self-provided transport containers should be ventilated, sturdy, and secure; equipped with locking devices and water dispensers; and have a liner at the bottom to prevent leakage of animal feces.
4. When applying for an animal quarantine certificate, you should bring your pet's vaccination certificate and your ID card to the animal health and quarantine department. (Please refer to the regulations of your local animal health and quarantine department for details.)
5. Complete pet transport procedures at the station on the day of travel. For pet transport: Arrange transportation at the station, separating the pet from the passenger; for pet escort: Accompany the pet on the luggage car and supervise it yourself. For transport distances within 200 kilometers and where feeding is not required en route, pet escort is not required. If pet escort is needed, please purchase the train ticket in advance and complete the escort procedures with the ticket.
Precautions for taking pets on trains
1. If the trip is long, it is recommended to consult a veterinarian to see if your pet needs to be given a sedative.
2. The luggage cart provides a normal temperature transportation environment. Temperature differences between regions may cause pets to be uncomfortable. Please check the temperature of the destination area in advance and take necessary measures to keep your pet warm.
3. Please take precautions such as fasting and urinating your pet in advance.
4. Pet owners who need to arrange for escort should arrive at the station at least 2 hours before the train departs to complete the formalities. If the train the pet owner is traveling on does not have a baggage car, please consult the station's baggage office for a suitable train number and arrive at the station 2 hours before departure to complete the formalities.
5. If you are traveling by high-speed rail, please note that the station for checking in your luggage and the station for boarding the train are not the same. Please plan your trip accordingly based on factors such as the distance between the stations and the train's departure time.
Legal basis:
Article 69 of the Railway Passenger Transport Regulations stipulates that when consigning the following items, the consignor shall provide a transport certificate issued by the designated department:
1. Gold and silver jewelry, precious cultural relics, currency, securities, and banknotes;
2. Police dogs and animals protected by national laws;
3. Non-commercial items used for publicity purposes at the provincial level or above;
4. Items exempt from inspection as stipulated by relevant national departments;
5. Goods transported by the state;
6. Other items for which the carrier deems certification necessary. When shipping animals or plants, a quarantine certificate from the animal or plant quarantine department is required. When shipping radioactive materials or oil sample boxes, a dosage certificate and an oil sample box usage certificate must be submitted in accordance with the regulations of the railway authority.
Article 96 of the Railway Safety Management Regulations
If a railway transport consignor conceals or misrepresents the name, nature, or weight of goods, luggage, or parcels, or exceeds the prescribed weight when loading or packing them, the railway supervision and management agency shall order rectification and may impose a fine of up to 2,000 yuan; if the circumstances are serious, a fine of more than 2,000 yuan but less than 20,000 yuan shall be imposed; if dangerous chemicals are misrepresented or concealed as ordinary goods for transport, a fine of more than 100,000 yuan but less than 200,000 yuan shall be imposed.
If a railway transport consignor conceals dangerous goods within ordinary goods, or conceals prohibited goods within dangerous goods, the railway supervision and management agency shall order rectification and impose a fine of not less than 30,000 yuan and not more than 200,000 yuan.
