1. Height is a marker of status. If you have more than one cat in your home, the one that sits on the highest point is often the most powerful cat. In other words, the tallest cat is the oldest.
2. Height provides cats with a better view. From a higher position, cats can more easily observe the movements of other people or pets within their range. In the open field, higher ground is a more likely place for a cat to disappear unnoticed by prey.
3. In colder regions, cats will choose relatively warm places to keep warm, and some higher places, such as above the refrigerator, above the cabinet, or near the air vents of the heater, are probably the places where they feel warm.
4. If there is a real object that your cat is afraid of, such as another dog in the house, a high place will make your cat feel that it is better to leave the object that it is afraid of.
