How far apart should the litter box and food bowl be?
It's best to keep the litter box and food bowl at least 3 meters apart, as cats are very clean animals and generally refuse to defecate near their food. Therefore, if your cat isn't caged, it's recommended to place the litter box and food bowl as far apart as possible. 
The litter box can be placed on the balcony, where it's relatively dry and well-ventilated, reducing odors. It's recommended to place the litter box in a familiar environment for your cat. Make sure your cat is familiar with the location of the litter box; a comfortable and familiar environment will make your cat feel safer.
