Cats are generally perceived as docile, but some can be quite temperamental, ready to scratch or bite if provoked. Approaching such cats without proper protection is not a good idea. Usually, when we encounter an unfamiliar cat, we can observe its demeanor and behavior to gauge its temperament, but this often takes time. Recently, scientists from the United States discovered that we can determine a cat's personality by its coat color. 
A study from the University of California, Davis, suggests that a cat's temperament can be largely judged by its coat color. Researchers surveyed 1,274 cat owners, asking them about the frequency of their cats' aggressive behavior, their reactions when handled, and their behavior at the vet. The survey revealed that white-and-patterned cats, black and white cats, and gray and white cats are "more aggressive towards people." The first type is generally known for its bad temper in daily life, the second type may attack when handled, and caution should be exercised when taking the third type to the vet. The survey also indicated that solid black, gray, or white cats, as well as cats with varying shades of stripes on their fur, are the most docile.

Black cats: They may seem docile, but they are actually quite shrewd and calculating. When it comes to fighting, they are incredibly fierce. In other words, they won't mess with you unless you mess with them, but if you do, they will fight you to the death. Black cats are the closest to the human soul, so they are very spiritual. They are truly effective at warding off evil spirits and protecting the home. If you have a black cat in your home, you don't need to burn incense or pray to Buddha anymore.
Tabby cats: Affectionate, fierce, playful, and most comfortable to be around. They'll be a comforting companion, giving you massages, talking to you, and expressing themselves. Over time, they'll become like dogs, fiercely guarding the house and relentlessly attacking any intruders. Their temper is uncontrollable, and they can be used as pawns.
Yellow cats: Only yellow cats are truly considered intelligent because they are very wise, appear sophisticated, and respond to your eye contact. They give you a feeling of seeing yourself reflected in their eyes, which is generally used to describe yellow cats. In other words, the term "intelligent" is often used to describe yellow cats.
White cats: The personality of white cats remains an enigmatic unknown. Like polar bears, they have developed a coat with white as camouflage. If you look closely, you'll find a patch of fur of a different color than white in a certain corner of their coat; that's their true coat color, concealed beneath the pure white. Note that white cats with blue eyes or bicolor eyes may carry a gene for deafness.
Blue and blue-grey cats: Due to their black fur, they have diverse personalities but possess a mysterious charm. Many of the world's most famous cat breeds are blue, such as Charlie Chaplin's Pepper, who was accompanied by his partner Teddy.
However, while we can observe a cat's temperament from its coat color, a cat's temperament is not static. Cats are sensitive and easily stimulated by their environment, making them animals that greatly need their owner's care. Although cats are not domesticated, they are very afraid of loneliness. If you want to get a cat, please first ensure you can spend time with it and build a bond. If the cat owner is not home for extended periods, do not get one, lest improper care result in a cat with psychological problems. Not only will the owner suffer, but the cat will also suffer more.
