For picky cats, many owners choose to supplement their cat food with canned cat food to increase their appetite. However, cats are unpredictable; some cats can eat a single can of food for a long time. If not stored properly, the canned food can easily spoil. If a careless owner still feeds it to their cat, the cat is likely to get diarrhea or even more serious illnesses. How can you keep canned cat food fresh? Here are a few tips. 
1. First, go buy a can lid; there are plenty online. Just put the lid on. There are many different sizes available, so there's bound to be one that suits you. Before buying, it's best to keep a few of the cans your kitten usually eats from, in case you buy one that's too big or too small. They usually cost five or ten yuan each. Canned food is not recommended for kittens under four months old.
2. Secondly, if you absolutely must feed them cat food, it's recommended to mix a small amount of canned cat food with rice before feeding them. Canned cat food is high in energy and protein, much like a large meal people eat during the Spring Festival; feeding it directly every time might cause indigestion. Carbohydrates like rice, on the other hand, are beneficial for a cat's growth.
3. Additionally, it's important to note that feeding kittens under three months old canned food or just meat can easily cause indigestion. Their digestive organs are very delicate and lack many digestive enzymes, so poor digestion can lead to diarrhea. You can give them some lactase to regulate their gastrointestinal function (it's best to keep lactase on hand).
