Why are Garfield cats prone to ringworm?
1. Healthy cats will not develop ringworm.
Besides environmental factors, nutritional deficiencies in cats can also make them susceptible to ringworm. Cats with ringworm share common characteristics: they live in an environment with fungal infections and are nutritionally inadequate. Based on these two points, treatments for ringworm can be found. These include eliminating the fungus on the skin, disinfecting and cleaning the cat's living environment, and supplementing the cat's nutrition to improve its overall health.
2. Strengthen the body and supplement nutrition to assist in the treatment of ringworm in cats.
Cat food is essential, but it's not nutritionally sufficient on its own. Supplementing your cat's diet with additional foods is beneficial. It's recommended to add a small amount of nutritional supplements to their daily cat food to improve skin health and alleviate itching. In addition, you can give your cat small amounts of egg yolks, vitamin B, and fish oil.
3. After internal regulation, external medication will be needed.
Before applying medication, cat owners need to prepare three things: a collar, a razor, and antiseptic spray. Whether or not to shave the cat before applying medication depends on the size and severity of the ringworm patches. Shaving the cat before application allows for more complete contact with the fungus, resulting in better disinfection. After spraying the medication, remember to put the collar back on to prevent the cat from licking the affected area. Also, remember to disinfect the razor before storing it away.
4. Use indoor disinfectant sprays containing chlorine.
Indoor disinfectant sprays containing chlorine can effectively kill fungi and their spores, preventing recurrence of ringworm in cats. However, if disinfection is incomplete and the fungi are not completely killed, they will continue to spread spores, making ringworm in cats difficult to cure. It is recommended to continue using medication while maintaining good indoor hygiene and disinfection, keeping the area dry and clean.
