Force-feeding. When a cat exhibits this condition, force-feeding can be an option to administer medication. However, owners must be careful during the process to avoid the medication entering the cat's trachea.

Generally, you can use a syringe with the needle removed to draw up the medication and slowly inject it into the side of the cat's mouth, not from the front. Injecting from the front can cause the cat to spit out the medication or bite the owner. It's best to have two people working together when administering medication.
