Cats being picky eaters is a headache for owners. They won't eat cat food, but they're afraid of making them sick by feeding them solid food. So owners often feel helpless when it comes to their cats' picky eating. But everything has a reason, and cats' picky eating is no exception. To deal with a cat's picky eating, owners need to address the root cause.
Some cats don't like their food being changed. If you decide to switch to a different brand of cat food, you'll need to gradually transition over a few days: mix small amounts of the new cat food into the old cat food, increasing the amount of new food each day until your cat adapts to the new food.
If your cat usually eats dry cat food, try occasionally feeding it canned cat food, or adding a little broth to its regular food. Some older cats may have gum pain and may find it difficult to eat dry cat food.
A food bowl that is too small or too light can make it difficult for a cat to eat. If the bowl is constantly bobbing during mealtimes, the cat will think it's not worth the effort to eat. Some cats don't like where their bowls are placed; in this case, you can try moving the bowl to a different location.
