Generally speaking, human milk is not suitable for cats. Adult cats are usually lactose intolerant and therefore cannot digest the lactose in human milk. Drinking human milk may cause indigestion, diarrhea, and gastrointestinal upset in cats.

Besides the lactose issue, the nutritional composition of human milk is not entirely suitable for cats' needs. Cats' nutritional requirements differ from humans, particularly regarding protein and fat. Cats require a higher proportion of animal protein and fat to maintain their specific physiological needs.
