The number of vaccinations a cat needs in its lifetime depends on its age and health condition.
Generally, cats require four vaccinations for their initial immunization, including three vaccines against feline infectious diseases and one rabies vaccine. The intervals between vaccinations are usually about 3-4 weeks, and cats should be at least 8 weeks old before receiving the first dose. The rabies vaccine is generally given to cats and dogs at least 3 months of age. After the initial immunization and antibody levels are satisfactory, only one booster shot of feline infectious disease vaccine and one rabies vaccine are needed annually.
Additionally, it's important to note that vaccination isn't effective only after receiving all three doses. Whether a further vaccination is needed after the first dose depends on whether antibodies have developed after the first year. If antibodies haven't developed after the first year, then continued vaccination is necessary; otherwise, the risk of illness may increase. Furthermore, excessive immunization can also place a burden on the body, so booster immunizations should be decided on a case-by-case basis.
