Cats may react differently to the smell of mustard. First, mustard has a strong, pungent odor, and cats have a very sensitive sense of smell, so they may feel uncomfortable with the smell of mustard and may sneeze or tear up.
Secondly, if a cat accidentally eats wasabi, it may experience more serious reactions. Wasabi is an irritant, and cats that eat it may experience tearing, sneezing, vomiting, and drooling. Additionally, the intense irritation from wasabi can cause a burning sensation in the cat's esophagus and gastrointestinal tract, leading to hoarseness. It can also disrupt the gut microbiota, causing indigestion, loss of appetite, and diarrhea.
