Amniotic fluid in cats is colorless and transparent, and is generally not easy to distinguish. However, it may contain a small amount of blood when it flows out, which is why we often see amniotic fluid that is pink or yellow.

Normally, once a cat's water breaks, they will give birth within 30 minutes. Kittens will be born one after another as the mother cat continues to contract. If the pet owner does not notice this, it means that the cat may be experiencing dystocia. In this case, the pet owner needs to take the cat to the vet for examination as soon as possible to see if an oxytocin injection is needed to help the cat give birth. If the cat still has not given birth, then a cesarean section will be necessary.
