British Shorthair cats are sensitive to cold. Although their fur helps protect them from the cold and regulate their body temperature, they can still feel cold when the temperature is too low. In winter, we often see cats lying on computers or next to the television; these are all ways they keep warm. Owners can provide their cats with a warm bed to rest in. Do cats need to wear clothes? The answer is definitely no, except for certain breeds (such as hairless cats).

Each hair follicle in a cat's fur is connected to a sensory organ, which helps them maintain balance through the tactile sensation of their fur and paw pads. If a cat wears clothes, these sensory organs become unable to maintain balance. The common sight of cats unable to walk while wearing clothes is due to this obstruction of their balance organs. Forcing cats to wear clothes long-term can also reduce their adaptability to their environment, making them more susceptible to illness – a counterproductive outcome.
