What to do with your cat when you go home for Chinese New Year?
Here are some suggestions on how to care for your cat when you go home for the Chinese New Year:
1. If you're taking the train home, you definitely can't bring pets because they won't pass security. If the journey isn't too far, you can choose to take a bus home. Bus security checks are usually easy to pass because they're not very strict.
2. Leave the cat with a friend who won't be home, preferably someone the cat is familiar with. However, this isn't a foolproof option, because a cat that is suddenly in a new environment and has a new owner can easily experience stress and develop a stress reaction.
3. Hire someone to come regularly to clean and feed the animals. This is the safest and most reliable method, but it's a bit expensive.
4. Pet boarding at a pet store is probably the most popular option. However, when choosing a pet store, it's important to observe the hygiene of the environment and whether the cats can be isolated to avoid them contracting infectious diseases from other sick cats.
5. If you are only home for a short time, you can leave enough food for your cat at home. It is recommended to have an automatic feeder to prevent your greedy cat from overeating. Prepare several litter boxes to make it easier for your cat to defecate. However, it is not recommended to leave food at home for a long time, as this can easily lead to gastrointestinal diseases and internal parasites in your cat.
