The dosage of oxytetracycline for adult cats is half a tablet per dose, and for kittens it is 1/4 tablet per dose, once a day. Generally, giving cats oxytetracycline three times a day for three to five consecutive days can effectively control the condition. Furthermore, when feeding oxytetracycline, it is important to feed it to the animal when it is hungry, as the bioavailability of oxytetracycline is higher when the animal is hungry, approximately 60% to 80%, while the presence of stomach contents can reduce absorption by 50% or more. Additionally, oxytetracycline should not be given together with probiotics.
Precautions for giving medication to cats:
1. When feeding your cat, always treat the symptoms correctly and avoid giving it random medications. If your cat is sick, take it to a professional pet store or veterinary hospital for a checkup. Only under the guidance of a veterinarian will you administer the correct medication; proper administration of medication is essential for its effectiveness.
2. Medication for cats must be administered according to the prescribed regimen. The use of most medications is determined based on the cat's weight. Combining medications can increase the burden on the cat and may even cause poisoning.
3. Exercise extreme caution when administering medication. Never give your cat medication blindly; do not administer medication based on your own subjective judgment.
